We are a community of EMDR therapy professionals dedicated to providing quality EMDR services, improving our knowledge of EMDR therapy, and supporting and connecting with other professionals.
EMDRIA (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing International Association) is the organization that oversees the curriculum of approved EMDR trainings, the standard of practice, and research. EMDRIA is a 10,000 member professional organization dedicated to the highest standards of excellence and integrity in EMDR.
This Georgia EMDR Network works to have EMDRIA approve all workshops and continuing education we bring to the area. We fully advocate for and acknowledge the need to maintain EMDRIA standards for approved trainings and certification.
To be able to say someone is “EMDR trained,” they must have completed at least one full weekend of EMDR training.
To be able to call themselves “fully EMDR trained,” the minimum training requirements includes 20 hours of instructional material, 20 hours supervised practicum, and 10 hours consultation. The training usually involves a 5 day intensive training, a semester or more in a graduate program, or 2 full weekends of EMDR training as well as participating in group or individual consultation with an approved EMDR consultant after the trainings.
To be “fully EMDR trained” is not the same as a Certified EMDR therapist. The Certified EMDR therapist or Certification level is another major feat and level above “fully EMDR trained”.
