For the EMDR Professional

Finding an EMDR Consultant

Looking for an EMDRIA Approved Consultant to further expand your knowledge, confidence, and quality of EMDR services?

Consultation is an essential part of mastering the art of EMDR and providing quality care.  It involves keeping therapists up to date on the latest research, provides education on prominent EMDR protocols, and assists in mastering the EMDR 8-phase, 3-pronged approach.

EMDR Consultation, in an individual and group format, can be used toward your Certification hours or can be provided just for your continued focus on quality treatment and a regular outlet for your complex cases.

We have wonderful and seasoned therapists in Georgia that have acquired the status of EMDRIA approved EMDR consultants.

Upcoming Community Events/Training

This Georgia EMDR Network strives to bring 1-2 prominent EMDR presenters to our area every year as well as many regular local networking events and local presenters.

Upcoming Trainings:

  • October 1st  Tuesday 6-8pm EST  2 hour Webinar “EMDR and Target Selection for Guilt and Shame”  by Arianne Struik.  Australian psychologist and EMDR Trainer Arianne Struik digs deep into the impact of childhood trauma.  Childhood trauma is a recipe for blaming ourselves and life-long feelings of shame.  During EMDR processing, these negative beliefs are dismantled and changed.  Some clients, however, get stuck in guilt and shame before and during processing.  Arianne will discuss how to assess the risk for clients to start EMDR, what is needed in preparation, and how to set up the EMDR processing in a safe way.  She will also elaborate on Francine Shapiro’s plateaus of processing and how to use this framework to understand why the client is stuck and which interweaves to use in which part of the processing.  Suicidal and self-harming behavior will be discussed from a trauma lens.

Arianna Struik is a highly sought after trainer having presented at EMDRIA Canada and elsewhere.  This is a webinar you really, really don’t want to miss!  And will be highly discounted for our Georgia EMDR Network.  Registration: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/emdr-and-target-selection-for-guilt-and-shame-tickets-1000376612377 for $45 registration.  NO RE-PLAYS available for this webinar, only live.  EMDRIA CEUs approved.

Do you need a refresher in how to overcome blocks or under-accessing of emotions during phase 4 of EMDR? If so, this is the presentation for you. Join us as we explore the distinctive EMDR conceptualization and treatment concerns relevant to male clients. We will address crucial cultural concerns that will benefit all EMDR therapists who treat men, the foundational factors essential for effective EMDR therapy with men, as well as ego state and IFS-informed treatment planning, interweaves, and reprocessing for male clients.

We will also discuss how to surmount common blocks in reprocessing with special protocols, including Ulrich Lanius’ Bottom Up Protocol, Jim Knipe’s Level of Urge to Avoid (LOUA) procedure, and somatically-informed cognitive interweaves.  We will also explore a newly peer-reviewed and published AIP model method of action, the Zeigarnik effect, and how this may inform both target conceptualization and relieve blocked reprocessing during phase 4.
